- 2 bowls warm cooked rice
- 1/2 Onion (thinly sliced)
- 1/4 Scallion (finely chopped)
- 1 Tbsp Cooking oil
Seasoning- 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (cooking wine)
- 2 Tbsp Starch slurry (1 Tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 Tbsp water)
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds
- Pinch of Black pepper
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (cooking wine)
- 2 Tbsp Starch slurry (1 Tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 Tbsp water)
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds
- Pinch of Black pepper
- Pinch of Salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and sauté until it becomes translucent. This step helps to release the natural sweetness of the onion, enhancing the overall flavor of the rice bowl.
Step 2
Once the onion is half-translucent, add the King Oyster Mushrooms (rinsed and well-drained) and stir-fry together. Continue cooking until the mushrooms soften and turn slightly golden brown. This will add a nuttier flavor.
Step 3
When the King Oyster Mushrooms are tender, add the finely chopped scallions. Stir-fry briefly until fragrant. The fresh aroma of the scallions helps to cut through any richness.
Step 4
Now it’s time to add the delicious seasonings! Add 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, and 1 Tbsp of mirin. Stir well to combine everything with the ingredients.
Step 5
To thicken the sauce, prepare the starch slurry. In a small bowl, mix 1 Tbsp of cornstarch with 1 Tbsp of water until smooth and lump-free. Gradually pour this mixture into the pan while stirring constantly until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Be careful not to make it too thick!
Step 6
Finally, season with a pinch of black pepper and a pinch of salt to balance the flavors. You can adjust the amount of salt according to your preference.
Step 7
Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 tsp of sesame oil and sprinkle with 1 tsp of toasted sesame seeds for an aromatic finish. The sauce should look glossy and smell wonderfully nutty. It’s ready!
Step 8
Spoon the generously cooked mushroom mixture over warm, cooked rice. Mix it all together and enjoy your hearty and nutritious King Oyster Mushroom Rice Bowl!
