Main Ingredients
  • 300g ground pork
  • 25 fresh perilla leaves
  • 38g oyster mushrooms
  • 1 dried shiitake mushroom
  • 15g green onion
  • 35g carrot
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 block firm tofu
  • 5 eggs
  • 5 Tbsp pancake mix (buchim garu)

Pork Filling Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
  • 1/2 Tbsp dried garlic powder
  • 3 pinches salt
  • 5 twists black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly squeeze out the excess water from the tofu. Finely mince the oyster mushrooms, shiitake mushroom, green onion, carrot, and onion using a food processor or a knife. Place all these prepared ingredients into a large bowl.

Step 2

To the bowl with the ingredients, add 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp cooking wine, 1/2 Tbsp dried garlic powder, 3 pinches of salt, and 5 twists of black pepper. Gently mix and knead the ingredients with your hands until well combined to create a flavorful pork filling.

Step 3

Lightly coat the inside of each clean perilla leaf with pancake mix. Place a moderate amount of the prepared pork filling onto the coated side of the perilla leaf. Fold the left side of the leaf over, then fold the right side over to overlap. Finally, fold the bottom part of the leaf upwards to create a neat, triangular shape.

Step 4

Dip both sides of the shaped perilla leaf into the beaten egg. Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add enough cooking oil. Place the egg-coated perilla leaf onto the hot pan and cook until golden brown on both sides. Your delicious Kkaennipjeon is now complete! Enjoy while warm for the best flavor.
