Salad Ingredients- 10 leaves crisp lettuce (palm-sized)
- 3 colorful bell peppers (yellow, red, orange)
- 400g lean pork loin
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
The key to a fresh salad! Prepare 10 leaves of crisp lettuce, as if freshly picked from the garden. Choose leaves about the size of an adult’s palm.
Step 2
Wash the lettuce thoroughly, pat it dry, and then cut it into thick strips. Maintaining that satisfying crunch is important.
Step 3
Prepare 3 colorful bell peppers (yellow, red, and orange) to add vibrant beauty. First, wash them clean, then trim off the stem and the bottom end for a neat finish.
Step 4
Remove the seeds from inside the bell peppers to clean them out thoroughly. Then, similar to the lettuce, slice them into strips for a visually appealing presentation.
Step 5
It’s best to cut the bell pepper strips to a size that will scatter nicely over the salad. Utilize all parts to add a splash of color.
Step 6
Now, let’s make the special dressing that will elevate your salad! Combine 3 Tbsp of rich soy sauce, 3 Tbsp of tangy balsamic vinegar, 1 Tbsp of pungent minced garlic, 1 Tbsp of fragrant sesame oil, and 1 Tbsp of sweet plum extract. Add 3 finely minced fresh Korean chili peppers for a spicy kick. Stir well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce or vinegar to your preference after tasting.
Step 7
The protein component of your salad! Prepare 400g of lean pork loin. You can ask your butcher to thinly slice it for salads for convenience.
Step 8
In a pot, add enough water to fully submerge the pork. For an improved flavor and to remove any unwanted smells, add 1 tsp of whole peppercorns. If you have bay leaves, adding 2-3 will make the pork even more aromatic. (It’s okay if you don’t have them!)
Step 9
Once the water comes to a rolling boil, carefully add the thinly sliced pork loin, one slice at a time. Be careful to prevent the slices from sticking together.
Step 10
After adding the pork, use chopsticks or tongs to gently turn the slices over, cooking them evenly on both sides. Boil for about 5-7 minutes, or until the pork turns opaque white throughout. Be mindful not to overcook, as it can become tough. Aim for just the right time.
Step 11
Once the pork is fully cooked, remove it from the boiling water and transfer it to a separate bowl or colander. Be cautious as it will be hot.
Step 12
It’s best to let the boiled pork cool down sufficiently before using it in the salad. Placing it on a colander to allow air circulation or spreading it on a wide plate will help it cool faster. Adding hot meat to the salad can wilt the fresh vegetables.
Step 13
Arrange the cooled pork in your salad bowl or on a wide serving plate in bite-sized pieces. Using kitchen scissors to cut them into manageable portions will make eating easier.
Step 14
Drizzle the prepared spicy and tangy dressing evenly over the pork. You can also gently toss the pork with the dressing to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 15
Now, artfully arrange the colorful lettuce and sliced bell peppers over the pork. It will look like a vibrant garden on your plate!
Step 16
Finally, drizzle the remaining special dressing over the salad greens. Gently toss everything together so the dressing coats all the ingredients. Your healthy and delicious pork salad, packed with flavor and nutrition, is now complete! Enjoy your meal!
