Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups warm cooked rice
  • 50g minced beef
  • 1/4 oyster mushroom
  • 1/2 Tbsp chopped scallions

Seasoning & Others
  • 1/4 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp agave syrup or corn syrup
  • 1 Tbsp flour or glutinous rice flour
  • A little cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the minced beef under cold running water for about 10 minutes to remove any blood. Pat it dry with paper towels. Finely mince the beef further using a knife or a food processor until it has a paste-like consistency. For a less sticky dough, you can gently drain the minced beef in a sieve.

Step 2

Trim the tough ends off the oyster mushroom, rinse lightly, and pat dry. Mince the mushroom very finely. In a large bowl, combine the warm rice, minced beef, minced mushroom, and chopped scallions. Add the minced garlic, soy sauce, and agave syrup (or corn syrup). Mix everything thoroughly until well combined, ensuring the flavors are evenly distributed. A 2:1 ratio of soy sauce to agave syrup provides a pleasant sweetness and umami that babies typically enjoy.

Step 3

Finally, add the flour (or glutinous rice flour) and knead the mixture until it becomes sticky and cohesive. Using glutinous rice flour will result in a chewier texture. Shape the mixture into small, bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm in diameter), pressing them slightly flat. Lightly grease a non-stick pan with cooking oil and preheat it over medium-low heat. Place the shaped rice pancakes onto the pan. Cook them until golden brown on both sides, ensuring they are cooked through. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning and allow sufficient cooking time for the centers to cook completely. Enjoy these nutritious beef rice pancakes!
