Baek Jong-won’s ‘Sunding-yi’ Ramen: The Secret to a Deep and Savory Broth
Craving Ramen on a Rainy Day? Baek Jong-won’s ‘Sunding-yi’ Ramen Recipe (Savory Broth)
Hello, this is Cloud Moon. Today, I’ll introduce you to Baek Jong-won’s ‘Sunding-yi’ Ramen recipe, perfect for the chilly and rainy weather. While ramen is delicious on its own, this special method creates a deeper and more savory broth. This recipe is from Baek Jong-won’s ‘Cooking Secrets’ YouTube channel. The key is to fry the ham and sausage beforehand and let them steep in the broth, which reduces greasiness and enhances a rich, savory flavor. Let’s make a simple yet special bowl of ramen together!
Essential Ingredients- 1 ramen noodle pack
- 1 mild ramen soup base packet
- A little green onion (chopped)
- 1 egg
- 2 slices of ham
- 1 sausage
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your ingredients. Make cuts on both sides of the sausage; this helps it cook nicely and absorb more flavor. Wash and finely chop the green onion.
Step 2
This is a crucial step! Place the two slices of ham and the scored sausage in a frying pan, perhaps with a little oil, and fry them until they are slightly browned, almost to the point of being a little charred. Frying them this way will deepen their flavor and add a wonderful umami to the broth. Set the well-fried ham and sausage aside for a moment.
Step 3
Now, it’s time to prepare the fried egg. You can cook it to your preference – sunny-side up or fully cooked – but fry it until golden brown. A fried egg not only adds richness to the ramen but is also delicious when the yolk is broken and mixed into the broth.
Step 4
Pour 3 cups (about 600ml) of water into a pot and bring it to a boil. Once the water is boiling vigorously, add the mild ramen soup base packet and stir well to dissolve. After adding the soup base, put the fried ham and sausage into the pot and let them simmer to infuse the broth with their flavors.
Step 5
When the broth returns to a boil, add the ramen noodle pack and a generous amount of the chopped green onion. Once the noodles are cooked to your liking, turn off the heat. Top with the deliciously fried egg, and your Baek Jong-won ‘Sunding-yi’ Ramen is complete! Enjoy it while it’s hot.
