Banana French Toast

Create Delicious French Toast Stuffed with Banana

Banana French Toast

I occasionally enjoy watching the mukbang (eating show) program ‘Mat-issneun Yeo-seok-deul’ (Tasty Guys). On one episode, Chef Jeong Ho-young was making French toast, and I watched intently. He made French toast with banana inside, and it seemed easy to make and delicious, so I immediately tried it. It’s simple to prepare and makes a great snack. It would be even more fun to make with children. This recipe is easy and tastes wonderful.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 2 fresh eggs
  • 2 Tbsp creamy peanut butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Cooking oil (about 1/2 paper cup)
  • A little powdered sugar
  • A little chocolate syrup
  • A pinch of cinnamon powder

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients needed for the French toast. Having everything measured and ready beforehand will make the cooking process much smoother.

Step 1

Step 2

Trim the crusts off the bread slices using a knife. Removing the crusts will result in a softer texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Cut the banana in half, then slice each half into four pieces. You want bite-sized pieces that fit inside the French toast.

Step 3

Step 4

Place the bread slices on a cutting board and use a rolling pin to press them down firmly and flatten them. Pressing them well with the rolling pin is crucial to prevent the bread from tearing when you roll it up.

Step 4

Step 5

Spread a generous layer of creamy peanut butter evenly over the flattened bread slices. The peanut butter adds moisture and depth of flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

Place a piece of banana on one end of the flattened bread with peanut butter. Then, roll it up tightly, similar to how you would roll a kimbap (seaweed rice roll). Ensure it’s rolled firmly so the banana doesn’t leak out.

Step 6

Step 7

Repeat the same process with the remaining 3 slices of bread, adding banana and rolling them up. You should have a total of 4 banana rolls.

Step 7

Step 8

In a wide bowl, crack the 2 fresh eggs and add a pinch of salt. Whisk well with a fork until the egg whites are broken up and the mixture is combined. This egg mixture will give the French toast its classic flavor and golden coating.

Step 8

Step 9

Preheat a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add about half a paper cup of cooking oil to the pan. Ensure the oil is warm but not smoking.

Step 9

Step 10

Dip each banana roll thoroughly in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Carefully place the coated rolls into the warm oil. Cook them, turning gently, until all sides are golden brown. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.

Step 10

Step 11

After the initial fry, dip the rolls in the egg mixture again and pan-fry them. Repeat this process of dipping and frying three more times. You will dip and fry a total of four times.

Step 11

Step 12

Coating and frying the bread multiple times creates a beautiful golden color and results in a wonderfully crisp exterior.

Step 12

Step 13

Continue to pan-fry the rolls, turning them occasionally, until all sides are a beautiful golden brown and crisp. They should look appetizing and well-cooked.

Step 13

Step 14

Once cooked, cut the banana French toast diagonally in the middle. Cutting them this way makes the banana filling more visible and appealing.

Step 14

Step 15

While the program only used powdered sugar, I decided to mix in some cinnamon powder. The addition of cinnamon creates a much richer and more delicious flavor. I highly recommend trying this combination!

Step 15

Step 16

Arrange the cut French toast on a plate, standing them up with the cut side facing upwards. Present them beautifully, almost like edible flowers.

Step 16

Step 17

Finally, drizzle with chocolate syrup for a delightful finish! Serve with your favorite juice or cold milk for a wonderful snack or a satisfying meal.
