Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, we’ll make the versatile ‘Mother Sauce’ that can be used in various dishes. With just this one sauce, stir-fried and braised dishes will become much easier. The amount we’re making will yield approximately 10 servings, so it’s a generous batch!

Step 1

Step 2

For the first step in making the Mother Sauce, wash and peel the apple (or pear) and onion. Then, cut them into manageable pieces for blending in a mixer.

Step 2

Step 3

Place the prepared apple and onion into the mixer. Add 2 cups of water, 2 cups of soy sauce, 1 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of minced garlic, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. All the ingredients will combine beautifully.

Step 3

Step 4

Turn on the mixer and blend until all ingredients are smooth and form a fine sauce. Making sauce this easily is amazing, isn’t it? Once made, transfer the Mother Sauce to a clean bottle and store it in the refrigerator for convenient use. Be aware that ingredients might settle at the bottom after refrigeration, so make sure to stir it well before each use. This recipe yields about 10 servings, so you’ll have plenty!

Step 4

Step 5

Now that we’ve made the Mother Sauce, let’s use it to create some delicious Beef Bulgogi!

Step 5

Step 6

Prepare all the vegetables that will go into the bulgogi by washing them thoroughly and slicing them into bite-sized pieces. Having your ingredients prepped beforehand makes the cooking process much quicker and smoother.

Step 6

Step 7

Gently pat the thinly sliced beef for bulgogi with paper towels to remove any excess blood. Removing the blood is key to a clean, pure flavor without any gamey taste. Once the blood is removed, use chopsticks to separate any clumpy pieces of meat, or cut them into slightly larger pieces for a better bite.

Step 7

Step 8

Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over medium-high heat. First, add the green onions and stir-fry until fragrant. Then, add the sliced carrots and onions and continue to stir-fry until the vegetables soften and release their natural sweetness.

Step 8

Step 9

Push the vegetables to one side of the pan to create space in the center. Add the prepared beef bulgogi to the hot pan. Using chopsticks, gently break apart the meat clumps and stir-fry just until the surface of the beef turns opaque. This quick searing prevents the meat from clumping and keeps it tender.

Step 9

Step 10

Now it’s time to add the flavorful Yoon’s Kitchen Mother Sauce! A good rule of thumb is to use about one ladle of Mother Sauce per serving. Since I’m making about 3 servings, I’ve added 3 ladles of the Mother Sauce. Feel free to adjust the amount based on your preference.

Step 10

Step 11

The Mother Sauce is already seasoned with saltiness and sweetness, so to help the flavors meld and create a nice sauce consistency, we’ll add about half a ladle of water. If you prefer a saucier bulgogi, you can add a little more water.

Step 11

Step 12

Once the Mother Sauce and water are added, stir-fry everything together until the sauce coats the meat and vegetables beautifully. This signifies the completion of your delicious Beef Bulgogi! Be careful not to overcook the bulgogi, as it can become tough. The key is to cook it quickly over high heat to retain its juicy tenderness.

Step 12

Step 13

This Beef Bulgogi made with Yoon’s Kitchen Mother Sauce is delicious on its own, but it’s also incredibly versatile! You can enjoy it with noodles for Bulgogi Noodles, serve it over rice as a Bulgogi Bowl, or even make a hearty Bulgogi Burger. Furthermore, this amazing Mother Sauce is also fantastic for other dishes like Japchae or Dakgangjeong, making it a valuable addition to your kitchen pantry!
