Cooking Instructions

Step 1

[Corn Soup] Pour 200ml of milk into a pot. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of cornmeal until smooth and dissolved. Turn on the heat to medium-low.

Step 1

Step 2

[Corn Soup Completion] Stir continuously as the soup simmers and thickens. Once it reaches your desired consistency, season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with parsley flakes for a lovely finish. This warm soup is a perfect companion to the steak.

Step 2

Step 3

[Lettuce Salad Prep] Wash and thoroughly dry one handful of fresh lettuce. Tear or cut it into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice half an onion. In a bowl, combine the lettuce and onion. Add 1/2 Tbsp fish sauce, 1 Tbsp vinegar, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and sesame oil. Gently toss to coat everything evenly. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the lettuce wilt.

Step 3

Step 4

[Steak Seasoning] Pat the 300g beef steak dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This step is crucial for achieving a good sear. Drizzle both sides of the steak with 2 Tbsp olive oil, then generously season with salt and freshly ground pepper. Let it rest for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the meat to tenderize.

Step 4

Step 5

[Cooking and Plating] Heat a skillet over high heat until very hot. Place the seasoned steak in the hot skillet and sear for a few minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet, let it rest for a minute, then slice it. Arrange the sliced steak on a plate, garnish with a few cherry tomatoes, and serve alongside the fresh lettuce salad and warm corn soup for a truly satisfying meal.
