Butter Spinach Chicken Steak
Butter Spinach Chicken Breast Steak
My sister in the US suggested I try adding spinach when grilling chicken breast or steak. The combination of butter and spinach creates a unique and delicious flavor, reminiscent of steak dishes served in American restaurants. It was so tasty that I ended up eating it for two consecutive days afterward! It’s a truly delightful way to enjoy chicken breast.
Ingredients- 2 packs chicken breast (for 2 servings)
- 1/2 bunch spinach
Seasoning- 1 tsp butter
- 0.5 tsp salt (or to taste)
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 tsp butter
- 0.5 tsp salt (or to taste)
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash the spinach thoroughly and drain any excess water. Ensuring the spinach is dry will prevent the pan from becoming watery when sautéed.
Step 2
Prepare the 2 packs of chicken breast. If the chicken breast is frozen, place the sealed package in hot water for about 10 minutes to thaw. This method is quicker and keeps the chicken tender compared to thawing at room temperature.
Step 3
Make shallow cuts across the chicken breast with a knife. This helps the seasoning penetrate deeply and ensures even cooking. Season the cut chicken breast generously with salt and pepper, then let it rest for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 4
Heat a frying pan over high heat with a good amount of oil. Sear the chicken breast on both sides until golden brown. Once the exterior is nicely colored, reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking until the chicken is cooked through. This prevents the outside from burning while the inside remains raw.
Step 5
To check for doneness, pierce the thickest part of the chicken breast with a fork or skewer. If clear juices run out and there’s no pinkness, it’s fully cooked. Remove from heat immediately to prevent overcooking, which can lead to dry chicken.
Step 6
If you’re concerned about the chicken breast cooking evenly due to its thickness, you can butterfly it or cut it into smaller pieces before cooking. This ensures it cooks through thoroughly and safely.
Step 7
Wipe the pan clean or use a separate pan. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and melt it over high heat. Be careful not to let the butter burn; melting it quickly will infuse a rich flavor.
Step 8
Add the well-drained spinach to the pan. Spinach wilts down significantly, so don’t hesitate to add a generous amount.
Step 9
Season the sautéing spinach with a sprinkle of salt and pepper to your liking. This will enhance the buttery richness and the fresh taste of the spinach.
Step 10
Once the spinach has wilted and softened, turn off the heat immediately. Overcooking can diminish its vibrant color, texture, and nutritional value.
Step 11
Arrange the buttery sautéed spinach on a plate. Then, place the perfectly cooked chicken breast steak on top. This presentation is visually appealing and allows you to enjoy the flavors of both components together.
Step 12
Instead of chicken breast, you can also grill a beef steak and serve it with the butter-sautéed spinach. The robust flavor of the beef steak pairs wonderfully with the rich, garlicky spinach.
Step 13
For a more complete and nutritious meal, serve this dish alongside a fresh salad. Combining it with other fresh vegetables creates a well-rounded dining experience.
Step 14
Finally, sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds over the spinach, lightly crushed between your fingers. This adds a delightful nutty aroma and extra flavor, making the dish even more enticing.
