Main Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- 1 egg
- 2 pre-made pork patties (donggeurang ttaeng)
- 1 handful of cabbage (thinly shredded)
- A small amount of carrot (thinly shredded)
Sauces & Seasoning- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- 1 pinch of salt (for the egg mixture)
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- 1 pinch of salt (for the egg mixture)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables. Thinly shred the cabbage and carrot. Shredding them finely will improve the texture. Place the shredded vegetables in a bowl.
Step 2
Crack 1 fresh egg into the bowl with the vegetables. Add a pinch of salt to help mask any eggy odor.
Step 3
Whisk the egg well with a fork or whisk until evenly combined with the vegetables. Ensure the egg mixture coats the vegetables thoroughly.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Create a space on the pan the size of your bread slices, and place the 2 pork patties within this space. (If the patties are large, you can cut them in half before placing them.)
Step 5
Once the bottom side of the pork patties is golden brown, flip them over and cook the other side until golden brown and delicious. It’s best to cook over medium-low heat to ensure the patties are cooked through.
Step 6
Now, let’s assemble the toast! Place 2 slices of bread in a toaster or a frying pan. Then, generously spoon the egg and vegetable mixture over the bread.
Step 7
Add the sauces to make the toast even more delicious. Drizzle ketchup over the center as desired, and sprinkle 1 Tbsp of brown sugar evenly for sweetness. You can also take the cooked pork patties from the pan, cut them in half, and place them on top of the vegetables.
Step 8
Add a zigzag of mustard for a touch of spiciness. Be mindful not to add too much, as it can overpower the other flavors. Use just the right amount.
Step 9
Finally, cover with the second slice of bread to complete the toast. Press down gently to help prevent the filling from spilling out.
Step 10
Close the lid of the toaster and toast until golden brown. If using a frying pan, cook over low heat, flipping occasionally to prevent burning the bread.
Step 11
Once perfectly toasted, use a bread knife to cut the toast into bite-sized pieces (diagonally or in half) and enjoy while warm! The combination of crunchy vegetables and savory pork patties is simply delightful.
