Today, I’m sharing a recipe for a delicious and savory ‘Cabbage Tuna Rice Bowl’ using this wonderful vegetable. It’s simple, satisfying, and perfect for a quick meal. Give it a try!
Main Ingredients- 1/4 head of cabbage (chopped into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp chopped green onion
- 1/2 onion (thinly sliced)
- 1/2 can of tuna (drained)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a moderate amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry until fragrant, creating a flavorful green onion oil. Frying the green onions until lightly browned will add even more depth of flavor.
Step 2
Once the aromatic green onion oil is ready, add the prepared cabbage to the pan and stir-fry until it starts to soften slightly. It’s important to cook the cabbage until it’s tender yet retains a slight crispness.
Step 3
Add the thinly sliced half onion to the pan and stir-fry together with the cabbage. The onion will add natural sweetness as it cooks, balancing the overall flavors.
Step 4
Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper while stir-frying. Continue to cook until the vegetables become translucent and tender. Properly cooked vegetables will absorb the sauce better, enhancing the taste.
Step 5
When the vegetables are well-fried, add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce to one side of the pan. Let it sizzle for a moment to intensify its flavor, then mix it with the vegetables and stir-fry.
Step 6
Add 1 tablespoon of cooking wine (mirin) and stir-fry together. Cooking wine helps to eliminate any unwanted odors and enhances the ingredients’ natural flavors.
Step 7
Add half a can of drained tuna to the pan and stir-fry gently with the vegetables until evenly combined. Be careful not to mash the tuna as you mix it.
Step 8
Push the cooked mixture to one side of the pan to create a space, and crack 1 egg into the cleared area. (On this occasion, two eggs were added for the husband as well!) If you don’t break the yolk, you can enjoy its creamy texture.
Step 9
Cover the pan with a lid and cook over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes. Adjust the cooking time so that the egg white is set and the yolk remains semi-runny. The luscious yolk will blend beautifully with the rice bowl.
Step 10
Serve the prepared cabbage and tuna mixture generously over a bowl of warm rice. Finally, drizzle with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma to complete your delicious Cabbage Tuna Rice Bowl! Enjoy your meal!
