Main Ingredients
- 1 block Cheongpomuk (Korean Mung Bean Jelly, approx. 300g)
- 1 sheet seasoned seaweed (Gim)
- 1 Tbsp finely chopped green onion
Cheongpomuk Kim Muchim Seasoning
- 0.5 Tbsp tuna extract (or soy sauce/soup soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or sugar/corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp perilla oil (deulgireum)
- A pinch of sesame seeds (to taste)
- 0.5 Tbsp tuna extract (or soy sauce/soup soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or sugar/corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp perilla oil (deulgireum)
- A pinch of sesame seeds (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Carefully slice the cheongpomuk into pieces about 0.7 to 1 cm thick, being mindful not to break it. Using a jelly cutter or a thin knife will help you achieve neat slices. Set the sliced jelly aside for now.
Step 2
Finely chop the green onion, focusing on the white parts. Cut the seasoned seaweed into small pieces with scissors. Using seasoned seaweed will add extra flavor.
Step 3
Place a steamer basket or colander over a large bowl. Arrange the sliced cheongpomuk evenly in the basket. Pour hot water, freshly boiled from an electric kettle, over the jelly. Let it sit for about 2 minutes to warm through. Then, carefully lift the basket to drain the jelly completely. This step removes the chill from the jelly and prepares it to absorb the seasoning well.
Step 4
Return the warm, drained jelly to the bowl. Add 0.5 Tbsp of tuna extract, 1 Tbsp of oligosaccharide, and the pre-cut seasoned seaweed. Finally, sprinkle in 1 Tbsp of perilla oil for a nutty aroma and sesame seeds to your liking. The fragrance of perilla oil is truly wonderful!
Step 5
Using your hands or a spatula, gently mix all the ingredients in the bowl. Be careful not to mash the jelly. Once everything is evenly combined, your delicious Cheongpomuk Kim Muchim is ready!
