Main Ingredients- Corn kernels 500g (fresh or frozen corn kernels can be used)
- Water 2 cups (approx. 400ml)
Seasoning & Other Ingredients- Salt 1/3 Tbsp (adjust to taste)
- Cooking oil, as needed (for frying)
- Salt 1/3 Tbsp (adjust to taste)
- Cooking oil, as needed (for frying)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, separate the corn kernels from the cob. You can easily do this by using a knife to scrape the kernels off. If the corn is very hard, lightly steaming it before cooling and then removing the kernels will make it easier.
Step 2
Rinse the separated corn kernels thoroughly. Gently rinse them under running water to remove any impurities or dust.
Step 3
Place the corn kernels and 2 cups of water (approx. 400ml) into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. If you prefer some texture from the corn kernels, you can blend it slightly less to leave some chunky bits. For a smoother consistency, blend as finely as possible. If it seems too thick, you can add a little more water.
Step 4
Add 1/3 Tbsp of salt to the blended corn batter and mix well to season. Adjust the amount of salt according to the natural sweetness of the corn and your personal preference. Taste and add a little more if needed.
Step 5
Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Ladle the corn batter onto the pan, about one ladleful at a time, and spread it thinly. Making them not too thick will ensure they cook through well and become crispy on the outside.
Step 6
Once the bottom of the corn fritter is golden brown and the edges look slightly dry, carefully flip it over. Be cautious, as flipping it too early before the bottom is sufficiently cooked might cause it to break. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown. Your delicious corn fritters are now ready!
