Chewy Cooked Octopus Ramen
Easy and Delicious Cooked Octopus Ramen Recipe
Let’s get started with cooking with pre-cooked octopus! This recipe makes it easy to enjoy a flavorful bowl of ramen with tender octopus, perfect for a special meal or a quick yet impressive dish at home or even while camping.
Main Ingredients (Serves 2)- 2 packs of instant ramen
- 1/2 onion
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 900cc (approx. 4.5 cups) water
- 200g pre-cooked octopus, prepared
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables for your ramen. Finely chop the Korean green chili peppers (cheongyang peppers) and thinly slice the onion after peeling it. Having these prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Heat your pot over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once warm, add the sliced onions and chopped green chilies. Sauté them until the onions become soft and translucent, allowing their flavors to release.
Step 3
As the onions start to turn transparent, reduce the heat to low. Add 1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes (gochugaru) and stir-fry with the onions for about 30 seconds more. This step is crucial for infusing the oil with a subtle chili flavor and a hint of smoky depth, making the broth richer and more aromatic.
Step 4
Pour 900cc (approximately 4.5 cups) of water into the pot with the sautéed vegetables. Increase the heat to high and bring the water to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the soup base powder from your ramen packets and stir to combine.
Step 5
When the water is vigorously boiling, add the two packs of ramen noodles. To ensure the noodles cook evenly and stay delightfully chewy, gently stir them with chopsticks every so often for about 4 minutes, or according to the package instructions. Using a timer can help achieve the perfect noodle texture.
Step 6
When the noodles are almost cooked through, add the 200g of pre-cooked octopus, cut into bite-sized pieces. Cook for just 1 more minute. Overcooking the octopus can make it tough, so a brief cooking time is key. Your delicious octopus ramen is now ready to be enjoyed hot!
