Main Ingredients- 2 King Oyster Mushrooms
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare 2 fresh king oyster mushrooms. Wash them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Gently pat them dry with a paper towel.
Step 2
Slice the prepared mushrooms diagonally into approximately 1cm thick pieces. Then, make diagonal scores about 0.5cm apart on both sides of each mushroom slice. This scoring helps the sauce penetrate deeply and makes the mushrooms more tender when cooked.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp water, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce, and a pinch of black pepper. Whisk well to create a delicious soy-based sauce. Oyster sauce adds a wonderful umami depth, so be sure to include it!
Step 4
Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the scored king oyster mushrooms. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. This marinating step will enhance the mushroom’s natural taste.
Step 5
Heat 2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Arrange the marinated mushrooms in the pan and cook, turning occasionally to prevent burning, until they are lightly browned and slightly softened, about 5-7 minutes. They should look glossy and tender. Serve hot with freshly steamed rice for a delightful meal!
