Main Ingredients

  • Dried Squids (Jimmichae) 200g
  • Soy Sauce 1 Tbsp
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 1 Tbsp
  • Oligodang (corn syrup) 2 Tbsp
  • Mayonnaise 1.5 Tbsp
  • Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes), fine 1 Tbsp
  • Ginger powder 1/4 tsp
  • Minced Garlic 2/3 Tbsp
  • Sesame Oil 1 Tbsp
  • Sesame Seeds 1 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gently rinse the dried squids in cold water to remove any impurities and soften them slightly. Massage them with your hands while washing, then drain them thoroughly in a sieve, squeezing out as much excess water as possible.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, cut the dried squids into bite-sized pieces. Cutting them to a moderate length, not too long, will make them easier to mix and eat.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s make the delicious sauce! In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp gochujang, 2 Tbsp oligodang, 1.5 Tbsp mayonnaise, 1 Tbsp fine gochugaru, 1/4 tsp ginger powder, and 2/3 Tbsp minced garlic. Mix them well. We will lightly stir-fry this sauce.

Step 3

Step 4

Pour the prepared sauce into a pan over medium-low heat. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Stir-frying the sauce slightly allows it to penetrate the ingredients better and deepens the flavor. This is the secret to making an exceptionally tasty dried squid salad compared to simply mixing it raw.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the prepared dried squids in a large bowl. Pour the lightly stir-fried, warm sauce over them. Finally, drizzle in 1 Tbsp sesame oil and sprinkle with 1 Tbsp sesame seeds. Gently mix everything with your hands until the sauce is evenly coated on the dried squids. Your delicious dried squid (Jimmichae) salad is now ready!
