Main Ingredients
- 1 handful dried seaweed (approx. 10-15g)
- 1 pack smoked chicken breast (approx. 100-150g)
Seasoning & Others
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, place the dried seaweed in a bowl and soak it in lukewarm water for about 10 minutes until softened. Soaking will make the seaweed tender.
Step 2
Rinse the soaked seaweed thoroughly under running water to remove any excess salt. If preparing for baby food, chop it even finer for easier consumption.
Step 3
Pour 10 cups (approx. 2L) of water into a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Using a generous amount of water is ideal for quick cooking.
Step 4
Smoked chicken breast can be used directly, but to eliminate any potential gamey flavor, briefly dip it in hot water for about 1 minute before draining.
Step 5
Shred the smoked chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. For baby food, finely mince the chicken for easier feeding.
Step 6
Once the water is at a rolling boil, add the prepared seaweed and bring it back to a boil.
Step 7
Skim off any foam that rises to the surface as the soup boils. This step helps to create a cleaner and clearer broth.
Step 8
When the soup returns to a boil, add the shredded smoked chicken breast and cook together. The chicken breast will add its savory flavor to the soup as it cooks.
Step 9
Add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce for a rich umami flavor, and adjust the seasoning with salt as needed. For baby food, soy sauce alone is sufficient, and it’s best to omit the salt.
Step 10
If you wish to balance the unique aroma of seaweed, add just a tiny pinch of black pepper. Omit pepper when preparing for baby food.
Step 11
Optionally, you can add some Cheongyang chili pepper for a spicy kick, but omit it if serving to children. Enjoy your delicious Chicken Breast Seaweed Soup, ready in just 15 minutes!
