Essential Ingredients- 1 large loaf of bread
- 150g butter
- 6 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp cinnamon powder
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the butter into pieces and place it in a bowl. Microwave for about 1 to 1.5 minutes until completely melted. Add 6 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon powder to the melted butter and mix well until smooth, creating a butter sauce. Stir thoroughly to ensure the cinnamon aroma is evenly distributed.
Step 2
Trim the crusts off the bread if desired, then cut each slice into 4 equal pieces. Cutting them into bite-sized pieces is ideal. If cut too small, they might become overly hard when baked.
Step 3
Using a pastry brush, generously coat both the top and bottom sides of each bread piece with the prepared butter sauce. Applying the sauce generously will allow it to soak into the bread, which is key to achieving a crispy texture.
Step 4
Sprinkle an additional tablespoon of sugar and a tablespoon of cinnamon powder over the buttered bread slices, adjusting to your preference. While the butter sauce already contains sugar and cinnamon, an extra sprinkle on top enhances the sweetness and fragrance. Bake in a preheated oven at 185°C (365°F) for about 20 minutes. You’ll end up with wonderfully crisp on the outside and tender on the inside rusks!
