Simple and Delicious Stir-fried Potatoes with Crab Stick and Ham
This potato stir-fry is a frequent side dish for my children’s meals! Since I had a lot of ham left over from the holidays, I decided to stir-fry it all together. The savory ham, tender crab sticks, and fluffy potatoes are a delightful combination. It’s a simple yet impressive dish perfect for any meal. Both kids and adults will love this! Shall we get started?
Main Ingredients- 3 medium Potatoes
- 1 can (200g) Canned Ham
- 90g Imitation Crab Sticks (e.g., surimi sticks)
Seasoning & Others- 1.5 Tbsp Salt
- 1.5 Tbsp Minced Green Onion
- 0.5 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 0.5 Tbsp Black Pepper
- 1.5 Tbsp Salt
- 1.5 Tbsp Minced Green Onion
- 0.5 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 0.5 Tbsp Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly. Then, julienne them into strips about 3-5mm thick. Soak the julienned potatoes in cold water for about 10 minutes to remove excess starch. This step prevents the potatoes from sticking together and ensures a cleaner stir-fry.
Step 2
Julienne the canned ham into pieces similar in thickness to the potatoes. Cutting them to a similar size helps them cook evenly together. If the ham is too fatty, you can lightly blanch it or pat it dry with a paper towel to remove excess grease.
Step 3
Julienne or shred the imitation crab sticks (like surimi sticks) into strips similar in thickness to the ham. Avoid cutting them too thinly, as they can break apart easily during stir-frying. Slightly thicker strips are best for texture.
Step 4
Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Add the drained julienned potatoes and begin to stir-fry. Once the potatoes start to look translucent, add the julienned ham and continue to stir-fry them together. Be careful not to overcook the potatoes to the point where they become mushy.
Step 5
When the potatoes and ham are partially cooked, add the prepared imitation crab sticks. Stir gently to combine and cook briefly. Crab sticks can become tough if overcooked, so a short cooking time is ideal.
Step 6
Now it’s time to season. Continue stir-frying over medium heat until the potatoes are fully cooked, adding salt to taste. Finally, sprinkle in the minced green onion, black pepper, and sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Give it a final gentle toss, and your delicious potato stir-fry is ready! It tastes best served hot.
