This recipe was inspired by a desire to get my sibling, who dislikes vegetables, to eat them. I’m finely chopping all the vegetables! The basic seasoning is a bit light, so if you find it too bland, you can add soy sauce to taste.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Onion, finely diced
  • 1/6 Carrot, finely diced
  • Scallions, appropriate amount, finely chopped
  • 2 Stalks of Chives, finely chopped
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Bowl of Rice
  • 1/2 Spam can, finely diced
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 2 slices Butter or Margarine

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the vegetables that will add flavor to the fried rice. Wash the onion, carrot, scallions, and chives thoroughly, then dice them into very small pieces, about 0.5 cm in size. The key is to chop them as finely as possible, especially if you’re making this for children or family members who are picky eaters. Cutting them this small allows them to blend well with the rice, so you can get the nutrients without strongly noticing the vegetable texture.

Next, dice the Spam into small pieces as well, to add that delightful sweet and salty flavor. The savory taste of Spam will further enhance the overall flavor of the fried rice.

In a large bowl, combine 1 bowl of warm rice with 2 eggs. Using a spoon or spatula, mix the egg and rice thoroughly, ensuring that each grain of rice is coated with the egg mixture. Pre-mixing the egg with the rice like this helps to separate the rice grains, preventing them from clumping together when stir-fried, and results in a softer texture.

To the egg-coated rice, add all the finely chopped vegetables (onion, carrot, scallions, chives) and diced Spam that you prepared earlier. The colorful vegetables will make the fried rice look even more appealing.

Now, mix everything together gently so the rice, vegetables, and Spam are well combined. Then, season with a pinch of salt and pepper according to your preference. If you prefer a lighter taste, use only a little salt; if you feel it needs more flavor, you can always add a dash of soy sauce later. Mix thoroughly once more to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed.

Melt 2 slices of butter or margarine in a heated pan over medium-low heat. The subtle aroma of butter will spread throughout the fried rice, creating an even more delicious and savory dish. While margarine is also an option, using butter will give it a more refined flavor.
