Comforting and Warm Egg Porridge Recipe
Simple and Soothing Egg Porridge

When you’re feeling under the weather or low on energy, a bowl of warm, smooth egg porridge is the ultimate comfort. You can easily make a delightful porridge using just eggs, without any complex steps. Wishing everyone good health, let this delicious egg porridge soothe your body and soul!
Key Ingredients- 1 fresh egg
- 1 bowl of cooked rice
- 4 cups water (approx. 800ml)
- 1 stalk of white green onion (finely chopped)
- 1/2 Tbsp soup soy sauce (for umami)
- 1/2 Tbsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (for nutty aroma)
- Dried anchovies for broth (about 1/2 cup)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the broth by boiling the dried anchovies in 4 cups of water. Once the water comes to a boil, remove the anchovies. Add 1 bowl of cooked rice to the boiling water. Gently stir to separate the rice grains and simmer over medium-low heat until the rice is soft and broken down.

Step 2
Once the rice has softened and the mixture resembles porridge, lightly beat 1 egg in a separate bowl. Slowly drizzle the beaten egg into the simmering porridge, stirring gently with a spatula or spoon to create delicate ribbons of egg. This will add a smooth texture and enrich the porridge.

Step 3
After the egg is incorporated and cooked, it’s time to season. Add 1/2 Tbsp of soup soy sauce and 1/2 Tbsp of salt to taste. (Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your preference.) Stir in the finely chopped green onions and simmer for another moment. As the porridge thickens slightly, just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for a fragrant finish. You can also sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top if you like.

Step 4
Check if the porridge has reached your desired consistency and turn off the heat. If it’s too thin, simmer for a little longer. If it’s too thick, you can add a splash of warm water to thin it out. Serve in a warm bowl for a delicious egg porridge that will comfort your body and soul.
