Main Ingredients- 1 pack Tofu Noodles (approx. 300g)
- 1/2 Onion
- 6 Cooked Cocktail Shrimps
- 5 cloves Garlic (sliced, or 1.5 Tbsp minced garlic)
Sauce Ingredients- 200ml Milk
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 5 Tbsp Carbonara Spaghetti Sauce (store-bought)
- 1 slice Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Grated Parmesan Cheese
- Pinch of Parsley Flakes (for garnish)
- 200ml Milk
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 5 Tbsp Carbonara Spaghetti Sauce (store-bought)
- 1 slice Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Grated Parmesan Cheese
- Pinch of Parsley Flakes (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the tofu noodles. Gently rinse the tofu noodles under running water and drain them in a colander. This step helps prevent the noodles from becoming soggy or clumping together.
Step 2
Peel and wash the onion, then slice it thinly into strips (julienne). You can adjust the cutting direction according to your preference.
Step 3
If using mushrooms, clean them, trim the stems, and slice them similarly to the onions. (Optional)
Step 4
Peel the garlic cloves and slice them thinly. If you prefer to use minced garlic, measure out about 1.5 tablespoons. Sliced garlic will infuse a richer aroma into the dish.
Step 5
Peel and devein the cocktail shrimps. Make a shallow cut along the back of each shrimp and use a toothpick to carefully remove the dark intestinal tract. This ensures a cleaner and more pleasant eating experience.
Step 6
Heat a wide pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of olive oil. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Once the garlic starts to turn golden, reduce the heat slightly.
Step 7
Once the garlic is aromatic, add the sliced onions, prepared shrimp, and sliced mushrooms (if using) to the pan. Stir-fry over medium heat until all ingredients are cooked through. Cook until the onions become translucent and the shrimp turn pink.
Step 8
When the ingredients are nicely cooked, pour in 200ml of milk to form the base of the creamy sauce. Keep the heat at medium.
Step 9
As the milk begins to simmer, add 5 tablespoons of store-bought carbonara sauce, 1 slice of cheddar cheese (torn or cut), and 1 tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese. Stir well until the cheese is melted and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
Step 10
Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce to enhance the umami flavor of the sauce. This helps to balance the taste and add depth. Taste and add a tiny bit more soy sauce if needed.
Step 11
Finally, add the prepared tofu noodles to the pan. Gently toss them to coat with the sauce and other ingredients. Since tofu noodles don’t overcook like traditional pasta, simply heat them through for about 1-2 minutes, until warmed. You don’t need to worry about them becoming mushy.
Step 12
Transfer the finished tofu noodle carbonara to a serving plate. Garnish with a sprinkle of parsley flakes for a touch of color and freshness.
Step 13
Your creamy and savory tofu noodle carbonara pasta is ready! Enjoy this visually appealing and incredibly delicious dish.
Step 14
The chewy texture of the tofu noodles is a delightful surprise, offering a lighter alternative to traditional pasta. The rich and savory carbonara sauce perfectly complements the tofu noodles, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. This dish is highly recommended for those who are health-conscious or following a diet!
Step 15
The plump shrimp also add a wonderful savory element to the dish! Enjoy them with the creamy sauce for an extra burst of flavor.
