Salad Ingredients- 1/2 block Firm Tofu
- Assorted Salad Greens, as needed
Luscious Black Sesame Sauce- 2 Tbsp Roasted Black Sesame Seeds (ground finely)
- Pinch of Salt
- 2 Tbsp Honey (or Plum Extract)
- 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp Peanut Butter
- 2 Tbsp Tofu (mashed)
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Vinegar (or Lemon Juice)
- 2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Roasted Black Sesame Seeds (ground finely)
- Pinch of Salt
- 2 Tbsp Honey (or Plum Extract)
- 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp Peanut Butter
- 2 Tbsp Tofu (mashed)
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Vinegar (or Lemon Juice)
- 2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by making the black sesame sauce. In a blender, grind the roasted black sesame seeds until very fine. Then, add the mayonnaise, honey, salt, peanut butter, mashed tofu, lemon vinegar, and apple cider vinegar. Blend again until you achieve a smooth and creamy sauce.
Step 2
If you don’t have honey, you can substitute it with plum extract for sweetness. Similarly, if lemon vinegar is unavailable, fresh lemon juice works wonderfully to add a refreshing tang.
Step 3
For an extra creamy and refreshing twist, consider adding 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt to the sauce and mixing it well. The yogurt will add a delightful creaminess and a unique flavor profile.

Gently pat the tofu dry with paper towels, then cut it into bite-sized cubes. Lightly sprinkle the tofu cubes with salt. Heat a skillet with a generous amount of perilla oil (deulgireum) over medium heat, and pan-fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides.
Step 5
Now, let’s assemble the salad. Arrange the fresh salad greens attractively on a serving plate. Place the golden-brown pan-fried tofu cubes on top of the greens.
