Creamy Butter Mashed Potatoes
The Perfect Steak Garnish: Homemade Mashed Potatoes Recipe
If you have an abundance of potatoes at home, why not make some wonderfully creamy mashed potatoes? They make an excellent garnish for steak! These fluffy potatoes transform into a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth side dish. This simple yet elegant recipe is perfect for the whole family and will elevate your dining experience.
Mashed Potato Ingredients- 2 medium potatoes
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 4 Tbsp heavy cream (or milk)
- 1 Tbsp Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Pinch of parsley (for garnish, optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the potatoes thoroughly. If the potatoes are large, cut them into quarters to speed up the cooking time. Place the cut potatoes in a pot, cover them with water, and boil until tender.
Step 2
Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them well. While still warm, use a fork or a potato masher to mash them until smooth. Ensure there are no lumps for a velvety texture.
Step 3
Add the 2 tablespoons of butter to the warm, mashed potatoes. The residual heat will help the butter melt naturally. Mix well to incorporate the butter evenly into the potatoes.
Step 4
Next, stir in the 0.5 teaspoon of salt and 4 tablespoons of heavy cream until smoothly combined. If you don’t have heavy cream, milk can be used as a substitute. Adjust the amount of cream or milk to achieve your desired consistency.
Step 5
For a richer, more savory flavor, you can add 1 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese. This is optional and can be omitted if preferred. Mix everything thoroughly. To serve, use an ice cream scoop or a spoon to shape the mashed potatoes beautifully onto a plate. A sprinkle of chopped parsley on top adds a lovely finishing touch.
