Creamy Milk Curry

Baek Jong-won’s Milk Curry from ‘Taste of Discovery’: A Refill-Worthy Recipe for the Whole Family!

Creamy Milk Curry

I had secretly hoped to visit school more often this semester, but the situation worsened, and both my children ended up doing online classes at home after only one visit. While there are countless difficulties, I think most mothers struggle most with feeding their children. You can’t just give them chicken nuggets from the air fryer every day, can you? So today, I’m going to show you a fantastic one-bowl meal that’s perfect for a simple lunch menu for kids. Curry is common, but the Milk Curry from ‘Taste of Discovery’ has a truly special flavor. Let’s make the ‘Taste of Discovery’ Milk Curry together!

Ingredients

  • 2 Frankfurters (or 80g ground pork)
  • 1/4 Zucchini
  • 1/4 Carrot
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 Small Potato
  • 500-600ml Milk
  • 5 Tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1/3 Tbsp Coarse Red Pepper Flakes
  • 80g Curry Powder
  • Cooked Rice, for serving

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients by chopping them finely. Think of it like preparing ingredients for fried rice. Finely dice the potato, onion, zucchini, carrot, and frankfurters. If you’re not comfortable with knife skills, consider getting a food chopper for convenience.

Step 1

Step 2

Preheat a pan over medium heat, add 5 tablespoons of cooking oil, and sauté the onions first until they are sweet and fragrant. Caramelizing the onions by sautéing them for a long time deepens the curry’s flavor with the onion’s unique aroma, so it’s great to cook them thoroughly.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the onions become translucent, add the frankfurters (or ground pork) and sauté until lightly browned. Next, add the potatoes, zucchini, and carrots and stir-fry them together. Continue cooking until the vegetables are tender.

Step 3

Step 4

Are the vegetables and ham cooked thoroughly, almost as if for fried rice? If so, add 1/3 tablespoon of coarse red pepper flakes and sauté briefly. This adds a touch of spicy depth as it toasts in the oil.

Step 4

Step 5

Pour 500ml of milk into the pan. Milk is essential for achieving a wonderfully creamy and rich curry. You can adjust the amount later after tasting and seasoning, adding a little more milk or water if needed, as seasoning preferences vary from household to household. Cook flexibly to your taste.

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, add 80g of curry powder and stir well with a spatula until no lumps remain. Different brands of curry powder can vary in saltiness and flavor, so taste and adjust with more milk or water if it’s too bland, or more milk if it’s too thick. Once everything is well combined, your delicious milk curry is ready! Serve generously over warm rice and enjoy!
