Main Ingredients- Spaghetti pasta (1 serving)
- 1/2 Onion
- 5 Mini Shiitake Mushrooms
- 2 strips Bacon
Sauce & Seasoning- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 200ml Milk
- 40ml Whipping Cream
- Salt
- 1/2 Tbsp Butter
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 200ml Milk
- 40ml Whipping Cream
- Salt
- 1/2 Tbsp Butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, fill a large pot with plenty of water for cooking the spaghetti. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat. Salting the water seasons the pasta from the inside as it cooks, making it more flavorful.
Step 2
Once the water is vigorously boiling, gently spread the spaghetti strands and carefully lower them into the pot, ensuring they don’t clump together.
Step 3
To achieve a delightful al dente texture that’s popular for its pleasant chewiness, we recommend cooking the pasta for approximately 8 minutes. You can adjust this based on package instructions or your personal preference for pasta doneness.
Step 4
While the pasta is cooking, prepare your vegetables and bacon. Thinly slice the onion along the grain. Slice the mini shiitake mushrooms into bite-sized pieces. Cut the bacon strips into 2-3 cm segments. (Although not shown in the photo, if you’re using broccoli, chop it into florets.)
Step 5
Melt 1/2 tablespoon of butter in a pan over medium heat. The rich flavor of butter will enhance the creaminess and depth of your sauce.
Step 6
Once the butter is melted, add the prepared onion, bacon, and mushrooms to the pan. Sauté until the vegetables are translucent and the bacon is lightly browned, releasing its savory fat.
Step 7
Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper over the sautéed ingredients to add an aromatic touch. Now, let’s move on to making the luscious cream sauce by adding the milk and whipping cream.
Step 8
Pour 200ml of milk directly over the sautéed vegetables and bacon in the pan. Milk forms the creamy base that will envelop your pasta.
Step 9
Next, add 40ml of whipping cream. I used whipping cream instead of heavy cream, and it works wonderfully for a rich sauce! Season with salt to taste, but be mindful not to oversalt; it’s always best to add a little at a time and adjust.
Step 10
As the sauce begins to gently simmer, drain the cooked spaghetti and immediately add it to the pan with the sauce. Stir and toss the pasta continuously to ensure it’s evenly coated with the creamy sauce.
Step 11
Continue cooking until the sauce thickens and beautifully coats the pasta. The key here is to maintain a low heat; simmering gently allows the sauce to emulsify properly and cling to the noodles without separating or burning. Stir occasionally for the best results.
Step 12
Voila! Your homemade creamy spaghetti is ready! Serve it on a plate and, for an extra touch of elegance, sprinkle some dried parsley on top. It looks and tastes like a gourmet dish. Enjoy your delicious creation!
