Creamy & Spicy Rice Cake Stir-fry (Tteokbokki) with Carbonara Style

A Recipe Proposal for the CJ Rice Consumption Promotion Contest

Creamy & Spicy Rice Cake Stir-fry (Tteokbokki) with Carbonara Style

This year’s abundant harvest brings mixed feelings. While a good harvest is welcome, the declining consumption of rice weighs heavily on the hearts of our farmers. With this in mind, I propose that this contest focus on developing products that encourage ‘rice consumption.’ If CJ leads the way in promoting the consumption of our domestic rice, I believe it will be recognized as a grateful company that not only revitalizes rural communities but also promotes national health. My participation stems from the hope of supporting farmers who sigh over rice consumption.

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

1. Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic, sliced onion, and sliced mushrooms in order until the onions become translucent and fragrant.
2. Add the broccoli florets and chopped bacon to the pan and stir-fry together.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of heavy cream. In another small bowl, mix 1 Tbsp of milk with 1 tsp of flour until smooth to create a slurry.
4. Pour the milk and cream mixture into the pan with the sautéed ingredients and bacon. Add the flour slurry and stir continuously.
5. Increase the heat to high and cook, stirring constantly, for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste to complete the carbonara sauce.
