Bean sprouts are a versatile and highly enjoyable side dish that pairs wonderfully with any meal, thanks to their crisp texture and refreshing taste. They are also packed with nutrients and incredibly easy to prepare, making them a frequent guest on our dining table. Today, I’ll share my secret to making a flavorful bean sprout salad that anyone can master!
Main Ingredients
- 1 bag bean sprouts (approx. 300g)
- 1/4 carrot
- A small amount of green onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water about 3 times. This step removes any dirt or debris, ensuring they are fresh and ready to be enjoyed.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the rinsed bean sprouts and blanch for exactly 3 minutes. Overcooking will make them mushy, so it’s crucial to maintain their crispness. After 3 minutes, immediately drain the sprouts and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process and cool them down.
Step 3
Gently squeeze out as much water as possible from the blanched bean sprouts using your hands. Excess water can dilute the flavor. Thinly julienne the carrot and finely chop the green onion. (The carrot is mainly for color and can be omitted if you prefer.)
Step 4
In a large bowl, combine the squeezed bean sprouts, julienned carrot, and chopped green onion. Add the seasoning ingredients: salt, black pepper, fragrant sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds for a delightful finish.
Step 5
Now, gently toss everything together with your hands until well combined. Be careful not to mix too vigorously, as this can break the bean sprouts. Taste and adjust the salt if needed. Your delicious bean sprout salad is ready!
