Super Simple Stir-Fried Chives Recipe with Fish Sauce
Make a refreshing and flavorful stir-fried chives dish easily and quickly using fish sauce. It’s perfect as a side dish for rice or as an accompaniment to meat dishes!
Main Ingredients
- 300g fresh chives
Seasoning
- 1.5 Tbsp anchovy sauce (approx. 22ml)
- 1.5 Tbsp fine red chili powder (approx. 15g)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic (approx. 7.5g)
- 1 Tbsp plum extract (approx. 15ml)
- 1 tsp ginger extract (approx. 5ml)
- 1 Tbsp crushed sesame seeds (approx. 10g)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the fresh chives. Neatly trim off any wilted or yellowed leaves, and clean off any dirt from the root ends. This preparation will enhance the chives’ freshness and texture.
Step 2
Rinse the prepared chives thoroughly under running water. Make sure to wash away any dirt or debris. Drain them well in a colander. Ensuring the chives are well-drained prevents the seasoning from becoming watery.
Step 3
Cut the drained chives into bite-sized pieces, about 4-5cm long. Place the cut chives into a bowl, ready for seasoning. Using a wide bowl makes it easier to mix the seasoning evenly.
Step 4
Now, prepare the delicious seasoning by combining the anchovy sauce, chili powder, minced garlic, plum extract, ginger extract, and crushed sesame seeds. Gently mix this with the chives. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the chives mushy. Toss gently until everything is well combined for a crisp and aromatic stir-fried chives dish!
