Ingredients
  • 1 bag (approx. 200-300g) fresh bean sprouts
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted salt (or 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce for saltiness)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • A small amount of the white part of green onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • A pinch of sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare one bag of fresh and clean bean sprouts. It’s a good idea to open the bag and inspect the sprouts for quality.

Step 2

Gently rinse the bean sprouts under running water to remove any debris or spoiled leaves. Drain them thoroughly in a colander, removing as much water as possible.

Step 3

Fill a pot with plenty of water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water is boiling, add all the prepared bean sprouts.

Step 4

Blanch the bean sprouts briefly. Be careful not to overcook them, as this will make them lose their crispness and become mushy. They are ready when they just start to wilt, which usually takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Step 5

Immediately rinse the blanched bean sprouts under cold water to quickly cool them down. This step is crucial for preserving their crisp texture. After rinsing, drain them thoroughly in a colander, squeezing out any excess water. Excess water can dilute the seasoning.

Step 6

Now it’s time for seasoning. Place the drained bean sprouts in a bowl. Add the chopped green onion, minced garlic, toasted salt (or soy sauce), and sesame oil. Gently mix everything together with your hands, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed. Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish. You’ve now made a delicious bean sprout salad with a wonderfully crisp texture! This bean sprout salad will be a fantastic addition to your dinner tonight.
