Dressing
- 1 ladle Korean soup soy sauce (approx. 100ml)
- 1 ladle anchovy fish sauce (approx. 100ml)
- 1 ladle red pepper flakes (approx. 100ml)
- 2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 handful chopped green onion (approx. 50g)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (to drizzle just before serving)
- 1 ladle Korean soup soy sauce (approx. 100ml)
- 1 ladle anchovy fish sauce (approx. 100ml)
- 1 ladle red pepper flakes (approx. 100ml)
- 2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 handful chopped green onion (approx. 50g)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (to drizzle just before serving)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the dressing, which is the foundation of this delicious salad. In a bowl, combine 1 ladle of Korean soup soy sauce, 1 ladle of anchovy fish sauce, 1 ladle of red pepper flakes, 2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds, 1 Tbsp sugar, and 1 Tbsp minced garlic. Mix well. Add 1 handful of chopped green onions for an even richer flavor. (This is similar to a master all-purpose dressing!)
Step 2
Wash the cabbage thoroughly under running water. Since this salad is meant to be made without a soaking or wilting step, cut the cabbage into bite-sized pieces as you like. You can julienne it thinly or chop it into bite-sized chunks, depending on your preference. Cutting it not too thinly will help maintain its crispness.
Step 3
See? We’re almost done! It only took a moment to mix the dressing and a few minutes to chop the cabbage. With the cabbage and dressing ready, it’ll be finished in about 5 minutes. Isn’t that incredibly easy?
Step 4
Pour the prepared dressing over the cabbage. Wearing disposable gloves, gently toss the ingredients together. Be careful not to mash the cabbage, but ensure the dressing is evenly distributed. Gently mix for about 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 5
Finally, drizzle with 1 Tbsp of sesame oil just before serving for an added nutty aroma that makes it even more delicious! Once all steps are completed quickly, you’ll have a refreshingly spicy, sweet, and crisp cabbage salad ready. Enjoy it with a warm bowl of rice or pair it with bibim man-du for a fantastic meal!
