Bean Sprout Salad Ingredients
  • 300g fresh bean sprouts
  • A moderate amount of green onion (thinly sliced)

Bean Sprout Salad Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Tuna extract (or fish sauce)
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • Salt (to taste, preferably roasted salt)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish and nutty flavor)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water. Place the rinsed bean sprouts in a pot and add 2 cups of water. Cover the pot with a lid and boil for about 3 minutes. It’s important not to open the lid while boiling to prevent any raw smell and maintain a crisp texture. (Adding half a tablespoon of salt while boiling can enhance the flavor of the bean sprouts.)

Step 2

While the bean sprouts are boiling, thinly slice the green onion you prepared after washing it. This will make it ready to be added to the seasoning.

Step 3

Drain the boiled bean sprouts using a colander. You can mix them right away while they are hot, but for an extra crisp texture, quickly rinse them under cold water to cool them down. (Rinsing in cold water makes the bean sprouts even crisper.)

Step 4

Place the drained bean sprouts in a mixing bowl. Add the sliced green onion and all the prepared seasoning ingredients (1 Tbsp tuna extract, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, roasted salt, and sesame seeds). (Adjust the saltiness according to your preference; add a little more if needed.)

Step 5

Gently mix the bean sprouts with your hands so that the seasoning is evenly distributed. Be careful not to mash the bean sprouts by mixing too vigorously. When the crisp bean sprouts are combined with the savory seasoning, your delicious seasoned bean sprouts are ready.

Step 6

Serve the finished seasoned bean sprouts in an attractive bowl. Enjoy them with a warm bowl of rice!
