A simple yet flavorful seasoned spinach dish that everyone loves! Even a slight difference in how you blanch the spinach can make a big difference in its texture. Shall we make it together?
Main Ingredients- 2 bunches fresh spinach
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
Seasoning- 1 Tbsp soup soy sauce (Guk-ganjang)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp soup soy sauce (Guk-ganjang)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, trim and wash 2 bunches of fresh spinach, cutting off the tough ends. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the spinach and blanch for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Be careful not to overcook, as it will become mushy!
Step 2
Immediately rinse the blanched spinach under cold water to cool it down. Drain it thoroughly in a colander, squeezing out as much water as possible. This is key to preventing a watery and bland side dish. Place the squeezed spinach in a bowl. Add 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp soup soy sauce, and 1/2 tsp salt. Gently mix everything together with your hands.
Step 3
Finally, drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for aroma and add a generous pinch of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty flavor. Gently toss one more time. Your delicious seasoned spinach is ready to serve! It’s great fresh or chilled.
