Crispy and Juicy Roast Chicken
Homemade Roast Chicken Recipe: Perfect for a Delicious Beer Snack!
Today, I’m sharing a recipe for ‘Roast Chicken’ that you can easily make at home! I ordered chicken for Samgyetang, but it came as two larger ones, so I decided to transform one into this delicious roast chicken, perfect with a cold beer. If you have an oven or an air fryer, you can make this incredibly simple snack. It’s highly recommended for solo drinking sessions or even for special occasions. Get ready to fall in love with the golden-brown, crispy-skinned, and moist-inside roast chicken!
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (small size recommended)
- 1 Tbsp Herb Salt
- 30g Butter
- 3 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Rosemary or other herbs (optional, for enhanced flavor)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the chicken thoroughly under running water. Since chicken can carry bacteria, it’s important to wash it carefully without splashing, rinsing it multiple times. Ensure you clean the inside cavity thoroughly to remove any remaining internal organs or blood for a clean taste without gamey odors.
Step 2
You’ll notice a lump of fat near the tail end of the chicken. Trim this off with scissors or a knife. Removing this excess fat will result in a cleaner, less greasy flavor.
Step 3
I personally like to trim off the very tip of each chicken wing, about one segment. This prevents the wing tips from burning during cooking and also helps the chicken maintain a better shape.
Step 4
In a bowl, combine the softened butter (about 30g), minced garlic (1 Tbsp), olive oil (3 Tbsp), and herb salt (1 Tbsp). Mix them well to create a delicious marinade. Herb salt is not only great for dipping grilled meats but also incredibly useful for marinating. The herb salt I used contains garlic, adding an extra layer of aroma.
Step 5
Generously spread the prepared butter marinade all over the outside and inside of the chicken. Make sure to coat the inner cavity well so that the seasoning penetrates deeply into the meat, ensuring a moist and flavorful result.
Step 6
Place the chicken in an oven-safe dish or your air fryer basket. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 30 minutes. Oven and air fryer temperatures can vary, so it’s a good idea to check the chicken periodically and adjust the temperature as needed. At this point, the chicken will be cooked but likely not yet crispy.
Step 7
To achieve a crispier skin, continue baking for an additional 15 minutes. Then, carefully flip the chicken over and bake for another 10 minutes. This dual-sided roasting ensures a perfectly crispy exterior and a juicy interior.
Step 8
While this small chicken might look a bit endearing, it’s cooked to absolute perfection! The aroma of butter and herbs fills the kitchen, making it incredibly appetizing. This roast chicken is best enjoyed immediately while it’s warm. Serve it with your favorite beer or wine for a delightful meal!
