How to Make Delicious Snow Dumplings at Home

Key Ingredients- 5 dumplings (frozen or fresh)
- 100ml water
- 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour (approx. 15ml)
- 1 pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Generously coat a heated pan with cooking oil. Place the dumplings in the pan and cook over medium heat until the bottom side is golden brown. Be cautious of oil splattering as the dumplings cook.
Step 2
Once the bottom of the dumplings is a tempting golden-brown color, flip them over and cook the other side until equally golden and delicious. Ensure both sides are evenly cooked.
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour and 100ml of water until smooth and lump-free. Add a pinch of salt and stir well. (The flour-water mixture shouldn’t be too thin; a slightly thicker consistency helps create the coating. If it seems too watery, you can add a tiny bit more flour.)
Step 4
Pour the prepared flour-water mixture evenly over the cooked dumplings. Slightly tilt the pan to ensure the mixture spreads across all the dumplings. Immediately cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to low or medium-low. This step steams the dumpling filling, keeping it moist, while the mixture at the bottom caramelizes and forms the crispy ‘snow’ effect. Cook for about 3-5 minutes.
Step 5
Once the flour-water mixture has thickened and dried to a crispy layer at the bottom of the pan, remove the lid. Increase the heat to medium-high and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the flour coating is completely cooked and wonderfully crisp. The dumplings are ready when they move freely in the pan without sticking when you gently shake it. Carefully transfer the finished snow dumplings onto a serving plate, inverting them so the crispy side is on top for a beautiful presentation.
