- A sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for fragrance
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper (to taste)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce for rich flavor
- A drizzle of sesame oil for nuttiness
- A sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for fragrance
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by preparing the ingredients. Thinly slice the carrot into matchsticks. Finely chop the green onion and cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces. Having minced garlic ready will help save cooking time.
Step 2
Heat a lightly oiled pan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped green onion, and sauté gently. It’s important to let the fragrant aroma of the garlic and green onion infuse into the oil. Be careful, as garlic can burn if the heat is too high.
Step 3
Once you can smell the aromatic scent, add the sliced bacon and stir-fry together. Bacon releases its own delicious fat, so don’t add too much cooking oil at the beginning, or the dish might turn out too greasy. Remember to use only a small amount!
Step 4
As the bacon cooks and turns golden brown, you’ll notice the pan becoming quite oily. If you feel it’s too greasy from the bacon fat, you can carefully drain some of the excess oil from the pan at this point. Adjust according to your preference.
Step 5
Now it’s time to add the crunchy bean sprouts and the colorful carrots. Keep the heat on high and quickly stir-fry the ingredients with a spatula, ensuring they don’t clump together. Cooking on high heat for a short period prevents the bean sprouts from releasing too much water, preserving their crispiness.
Step 6
When it’s almost done, add the seasoning ingredients to enhance the flavor. Stir in 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce for umami, and add a pinch of black pepper to your liking. Finally, drizzle in a little sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Toss everything together well to complete this delicious bacon and bean sprout stir-fry. The saltiness from the bacon and the oyster sauce alone provide plenty of flavor.
Step 7
The key to a delicious bean sprout stir-fry is its crunchy texture! Stir-frying quickly over high heat is essential to maintain the fresh crispness of the bean sprouts. If the heat is too low, the bean sprouts will release a lot of water, becoming mushy and less appealing visually. Always remember to cook over high heat.
Step 8
And there you have it – a perfectly crunchy bacon and bean sprout stir-fry! Each bite offers the fresh, crisp texture of the bean sprouts, complemented by the savory aroma of the bacon. Even a whole bag disappears in no time! This is a magical side dish, especially perfect for when you have a decreased appetite or during hot summer days to stimulate your palate. It’s a highly recommended dish that can be enjoyed without any leftovers!
