Crispy and Savory Triangle Tortillas
Perfect for Kids’ Snacks or a Quick Breakfast! Make-Ahead Triangle Tortillas You Can Freeze.
These triangle tortillas are made by simply folding round tortillas into a triangular shape. They are easy to hold and eat, making them highly recommended as a snack for children or a simple breakfast option. Adding plenty of cheese makes them incredibly rich and delicious! You can make a batch, freeze them, and then reheat them in an air fryer or on a pan for a quick and convenient treat anytime. Their versatility is a huge plus.
Key Ingredients- 3 Tortillas (approx. 20cm diameter)
- 4 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
- 4 Tbsp Canned Corn Kernels
- 1 cup Pizza Cheese (approx. 100g)
- 1 can Tuna (small, approx. 90g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, drain the canned corn kernels thoroughly using a sieve. This step is crucial to prevent the filling from becoming watery and to ensure a better taste.
Step 2
Next, open the canned tuna and carefully drain all the oil. Removing the oil helps to cut down on any greasiness and enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Step 3
Place the tortillas on a dry or lightly toasted pan. Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut each tortilla exactly in half to form semi-circle shapes. These semi-circles will serve as the base for your triangle tortillas.
Step 4
On the semi-circle tortilla, gently fold the curved edge (the wider side) inwards by about 1-2 cm. This folded edge will help to enclose the filling later on.
Step 5
Now, spread about 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce thinly over the tortilla. Then, add the drained tuna, the drained corn kernels, and a generous amount of pizza cheese. Once the filling is in place, start folding from the pointed end upwards, as indicated by the arrow, to form a triangle shape.
Step 6
Fold it over once more to create a complete triangle, enclosing the filling. Press down gently to help seal the edges securely. The shape should resemble a cone or a triangle.
Step 7
Finally, tuck the remaining exposed flap of the tortilla inwards, making the shape neat and compact. This prevents the filling from leaking out during cooking and gives it a tidy appearance.
Step 8
From 3 tortillas, you will make 6 triangle tortillas. The exact number may vary depending on the size of your tortillas.
Step 9
Lightly coat the surface of the triangle tortillas with a little cooking oil, or use a pan spray on a non-stick pan. Place them over low heat and cook, flipping occasionally, until both sides are golden brown and crispy. Be mindful of the heat to avoid burning.
Step 10
Your delicious triangle tortillas are ready once the exterior is golden and crispy, and the cheese inside is fully melted.
Step 11
Take a bite of the warm, crispy triangle tortilla and enjoy the delightful burst of corn kernels and the satisfying stretch of melted cheese. It’s truly delicious! 🙂
