Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup) to taste

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the bread into bite-sized pieces. Cubes of about 3-4 cm or long strips work well for frying and eating. Aim for a thickness of about 1 cm for extra crispiness.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the bread pieces and fry until golden brown and crispy. Frying slowly over medium heat prevents burning and ensures the bread cooks through. Once golden, transfer the fried bread to paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 2

Step 3

Return the drained bread pieces to the frying pan, reduce the heat to low, and drizzle in the oligosaccharide. Gently stir with a spatula to coat the bread evenly. If you don’t have oligosaccharide, corn syrup can be used as a substitute.

Step 3

Step 4

Finally, add the 2 tablespoons of sugar and mix once more to coat everything. As the sugar melts, it will form a caramel-like coating on the bread, enhancing its crispiness and sweetness. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your preference.

Step 4

Step 5

Once all the ingredients are well-coated and the crisps are golden brown, transfer them to a serving plate. Allow them to cool completely for the crispiest texture. Enjoy these simple yet delicious bread crisps!
