Crispy Bacon and Scallion Skillet
Super Easy Bacon and Scallion Recipe
A delightful combination of sweet scallions and savory bacon that kids adore! This super simple dish is perfect as a snack for children or as an appetizer with drinks for adults. Savor the even sweeter and softer scallions, beautifully cooked in the flavorful bacon fat.
Ingredients- 2 strips bacon
- 2 scallions (green onions)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, heat a skillet over medium heat and add the 2 strips of bacon. Cook them on both sides until golden brown and slightly crispy. Frying them slightly in their own rendered fat will make them even more delicious.
Step 2
Once the bacon is cooked, remove it to a separate plate temporarily. Wash the 2 scallions thoroughly and cut them into approximately 5cm (2-inch) lengths. Cutting them not too thinly will provide a pleasant texture when cooked.
Step 3
Using the rendered bacon fat remaining in the skillet, add the cut scallions. Toss them in the bacon fat to coat evenly. Cook over medium-low heat gently, ensuring the scallions don’t burn but become tender inside.
Step 4
While cooking, check the thickness of the scallions. If they are on the thicker side, it’s best to cook them a little longer to ensure they become thoroughly tender all the way through. They are done when a chopstick can easily pierce them.
Step 5
Cut the nicely cooked scallions into bite-sized pieces. Alternatively, you can cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces (about 2cm or 3/4 inch) first and then stir-fry them together with the scallions. This way, you can enjoy the harmonious flavors of bacon and scallions all at once.
