Crispy Baked Chicken Drumettes (Air Fryer)
Simple Baked Chicken Drumettes Made by My Daughter Using an Air Fryer
A light and savory baked chicken drumette dish, prepared by my daughter using an air fryer. I took out the chicken drumettes from the refrigerator that my daughter had prepared when she visited during the holidays and made them deliciously.
Ingredients- 1kg chicken drumettes
- 1 handful of young greens
- 1 cup milk
- Pinch of herb salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, we’ll remove any gamey odor from the chicken drumettes and tenderize the meat. Rinse the 1kg of chicken drumettes thoroughly under running water. Pour 1 cup of milk over the rinsed drumettes and let them soak for about 10 minutes. Soaking in milk will eliminate the characteristic chicken smell and make the meat much more tender. After 10 minutes, drain the drumettes, rinse them lightly under cold water, and then pat them dry meticulously with paper towels. Ensuring they are well-dried will result in a crispier finish when cooked.
Step 2
Now it’s time to season the chicken drumettes. After patting them dry, sprinkle them with a pinch of black pepper and herb salt. Gently massage the seasoning into the drumettes with your hands. Using herb salt adds a wonderful flavor without needing many additional seasonings. You can also add garlic powder or paprika powder according to your preference.
Step 3
Arrange the seasoned chicken drumettes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Try not to let the drumettes overlap too much, as this ensures even heat circulation and consistent cooking. If your air fryer is smaller or you have a large batch, it’s best to cook them in two batches.
Step 4
Set the air fryer to cook. Set the temperature to 200°C (390°F) and cook for about 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, carefully remove the drumettes from the air fryer and flip them over. Then, cook for another 20 minutes at 200°C (390°F). This dual-sided cooking will achieve a crispy exterior and a juicy interior. The exact cooking time might vary slightly depending on the size of the drumettes and your air fryer model, so check periodically to prevent burning.
Step 5
Transfer the nicely browned chicken drumettes to a serving plate. Prepare some fresh young greens to serve alongside the chicken. Wash the young greens thoroughly under running water and then drain them well in a colander. Using pre-washed salad greens can make this step even quicker.
Step 6
Finally, drizzle balsamic dressing over the prepared young greens and serve with the baked chicken drumettes. The combination of the tender, savory chicken and the fresh greens is truly delightful. This dish is a hit with kids, so enjoy a wonderful meal together!
