Ingredients

  • 1/8 head of cabbage (approx. 200-250g)
  • 3 eggs
  • 50g ham (sliced or whole)
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • Sriracha sauce (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

A 1/8 head of cabbage is about 200-250g, enough for one person’s meal. First, wash the cabbage thoroughly. Soak it briefly in water with a little vinegar, then rinse again under running water. After draining, cut it into thin strips about 0.5cm thick or finely mince it. Shredding gives a better texture, while mincing integrates well with the egg for a softer bite.

Step 1

Step 2

If you find cabbage alone a bit plain, prepare 50g of ham. Slice the ham thinly or dice it finely. Instead of ham, you can also use shredded boiled chicken breast or flaked crab sticks for a delicious variation. Feel free to use different ingredients to enhance the flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the prepared cabbage and ham (or your chosen substitute). Crack in 3 fresh eggs. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor and remove any eggy smell, and a sprinkle of black pepper. Be careful not to add too much salt.

Step 3

Step 4

Using a spatula or chopsticks, mix all the ingredients in the bowl thoroughly until well combined. Ensure the cabbage, ham, and egg mixture is smoothly blended. Your ingredients are now ready for the delicious egg pancake.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, let’s heat the pan. For a standard 24cm frying pan, pour enough batter to cover about half the pan. Add 2 Tbsp of cooking oil to the pan and preheat over medium-low heat. Pour all the batter and shape it to form a thick pancake. Since eggs are involved, it’s easy to burn, so it’s crucial to cook it slowly over low heat.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the batter is in the pan, cover it with a lid and cook gently over low heat. When the bottom is golden brown and the edges start to set, place a large plate over the pan and quickly flip it over. This method allows for a clean flip without ruining the shape. After flipping, cook the other side thoroughly until fully done. It’s ready when the egg mixture is completely cooked through and moist inside.

Step 6

Step 7

Serve the well-cooked cabbage and ham egg pancake on a nice plate. You can also cut it into serving pieces. Drizzling a bit of Sriracha sauce over it transforms this dish into something truly special. The crispiness of the cabbage, the savory ham, and the soft eggs create a wonderful combination. You’ll finish the whole plate in no time! It’s also incredibly filling, making it a very satisfying choice for a diet meal!
