Rice Cake Open Sandwich Ingredients

  • 1/2 piece of Baekseolgi (Korean steamed rice cake), thinly sliced
  • 4 slices of processed ham
  • 2 slices of processed cheese
  • A generous amount of fresh sprouts
  • A generous amount of pizza cheese (mozzarella)
  • A little grapeseed oil (for greasing the pan)
  • A little grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Sauce and Seasoning

  • A little honey mustard sauce

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thinly slice the Baekseolgi rice cake to about 0.5cm thickness. Cut the processed cheese slices in half to match the size of the rice cakes. Wash the sprouts thoroughly and drain them well to ensure they stay fresh.

Place a slice of processed cheese on top of each prepared rice cake slice. Drizzle a little sweet and tangy honey mustard sauce over the cheese to enhance the flavor. Finally, pile on a generous amount of fresh sprouts.

Top the sprouts with plenty of pizza cheese, which will melt beautifully. If desired, sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese for an extra savory touch. Lightly grease a frying pan with grapeseed oil and preheat it over low heat. Place the rice cake open sandwiches in the pan. Cover with a lid and cook over low heat until the pizza cheese is melted and golden brown. Your crispy rice cake open sandwiches are ready when the bottom of the rice cake is toasted and the cheese is melted!
