While ‘Sotteok-sotteok’ is popular now, sometimes you just crave a taste of the past. I decided to make ramyeon-ttang at home when I was looking for a light snack. It’s a perfect, simple treat for kids or a quick bite for yourself. Let’s recreate this addictive ramyeon snack!

  • 1 packet of instant ramyeon (square-shaped recommended)
  • Sesame seeds, a pinch (optional)

Cooking Instructions

First, it’s best to use a square-shaped ramyeon noodle pack as it’s easier to break apart for a more delicious outcome. Prepare your square-shaped ramyeon noodles. Place the ramyeon noodles in an air fryer and cook at 180°C (350°F) for about 8 minutes until golden brown. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can use a microwave. Put the ramyeon noodles in a microwave-safe dish and heat in 30-second intervals, flipping them in between, until they turn slightly brown. Be careful, as freshly cooked ramyeon noodles are very hot! Let them cool completely before handling. Cooling them thoroughly will make them extra crispy and delicious!

Now, let’s make the delicious sauce, the heart of ramyeon-ttang! In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp water, 0.5 Tbsp sugar, 0.5 Tbsp gochujang, and 2 Tbsp corn syrup for sweetness.

Add 1 tsp soy sauce for umami and 1.5 Tbsp ketchup for a sweet and tangy flavor. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Your delicious ramyeon-ttang sauce is complete! This sauce is the secret to making ramyeon-ttang so special.

Take the ramyeon noodles you baked and cooled earlier. Now, spread the sauce thinly on just one side of the ramyeon noodles. Make sure to spread it evenly so you can enjoy the sauce flavor with every bite.
