Unbelievable Taste! How to Make Refreshing Cucumber Cream Cheese Toast

I saw this on a TV show and thought, ‘What kind of flavor could this be?!’ I had to try making this cucumber toast! I actually knew about it even before it appeared on TV, but I always avoided it because it used cucumber. However, everyone raved about how delicious it was, so my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to make it.

Ingredients
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 fresh cucumber
  • Cream cheese (to taste)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil (optional)
  • Butter (to taste, optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the cucumber thoroughly under running water. Using a vegetable peeler, slice the cucumber thinly lengthwise. If the cucumber slices are too long, it might be difficult to arrange them on the toast. I cut the cucumber into about three sections before peeling, which made it easier to handle. You might not use the entire cucumber, so prepare an appropriate amount.

Step 2

After thinly slicing the cucumber with the peeler, add a pinch of salt and gently mix. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to salt-cure. This process draws out excess moisture, making the cucumber even crisper. Squeeze out the water from the salted cucumber slices before proceeding.

Step 3

Now, let’s toast the bread to a delightful crisp! While butter is optional, adding it enhances the flavor significantly. Melt the butter over low heat in a pan, then add the bread slices. Toast them until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. A nice, golden hue makes them look very appetizing.

Step 4

On one side of the warmly toasted bread, spread a generous layer of smooth cream cheese. Then, arrange the drained cucumber slices on top. Overlapping the slices slightly can make for a more appealing presentation.

Step 5

Finally, sprinkle a little salt and pepper over the fresh cucumber slices to taste. If you’d like an extra touch of flavor, drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the cucumber. This will add a clean and refreshing note.

Step 6

Personally, I found it tasted better without the olive oil, as it allowed the fresh cucumber and cream cheese flavors to shine through more clearly. If you’re looking for an even more sophisticated taste, try mixing some chopped fresh dill into the cream cheese before spreading. The herbaceous aroma of dill pairs wonderfully with cucumber. If you’re not a fan of cucumbers, this recipe might not be for you, but for those who enjoy fresh vegetables, I highly recommend giving it a try!
