Ingredients
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes (about 500-600g), scrubbed clean
  • 40g unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • Pinch of salt (adjust to taste)
  • Ground black pepper to taste (freshly ground is best for flavor)
  • Dried parsley flakes for garnish (adds color and aroma)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly scrub the potatoes with a vegetable brush, leaving the skins on for extra flavor and texture. Cut the clean potatoes into wedge shapes, similar to how you’d cut a pizza, about 8 wedges per potato. Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 10 minutes to remove excess starch. This step is key to achieving extra crispiness! After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them completely dry with paper towels. Any remaining moisture can prevent them from getting as crispy.

Step 2

Cut the cold butter into small, bite-sized cubes, similar in size to your potato wedges. This will ensure the butter melts and coats the potatoes evenly, infusing them with rich flavor.

Step 3

In a large resealable bag or a big mixing bowl, add the dried potato wedges. Scatter the cubed butter over the potatoes. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and a generous amount of black pepper. Finish with a sprinkle of dried parsley flakes. If using a bag, seal it tightly and shake gently to ensure the butter and seasonings coat the potatoes evenly. If using a bowl, gently toss the potatoes with your hands to coat them. The butter will melt as it cooks, helping the seasonings adhere beautifully.

Step 4

Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for about 5 minutes. Arrange the coated potato wedges in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Set the temperature to 200°C (400°F) and cook for the first 7-10 minutes.

Step 5

After the initial cooking time, carefully remove the air fryer basket and give the potato wedges a good shake or toss to ensure even cooking. Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 7-10 minutes at 200°C (400°F). Repeat this process of shaking and cooking 2-3 times in total. This method ensures the wedges become beautifully golden brown and crispy on the outside, while remaining tender and fluffy on the inside. Keep an eye on them and adjust the cooking time as needed to reach your desired level of crispness. Enjoy your delicious homemade potato wedges!
