Shrimp Grill & Sauce Ingredients- 1 bag Black Tiger Shrimp (approx. 300g)
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 2-3 Tbsp tempura flour (for coating shrimp)
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2-3 Tbsp olive oil (for sautéing)
- 1/2 lemon (for squeezing over at the end)
- 6 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 onion (sliced thinly)
- 1/4 bell pepper (sliced thinly, use various colors for visual appeal)
- 1/2 Korean chili pepper (finely chopped, optional for extra heat)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thaw the frozen Black Tiger Shrimp by placing them in a bowl of cool running water. If you are using fresh shrimp, you can skip this step and save time.
Step 2
This step involves preparing the shrimp. 1) You can leave the heads and tails on, or remove them according to your preference. 2) Keep the shell on from head to tail. 3) Carefully devein the shrimp by inserting a skewer or toothpick along the back and gently pulling out the dark intestinal tract. 4) Lightly split the shrimp in half along the belly side. 5) Remove any white veins or impurities found inside the split belly. 6) Finally, rinse the shrimp gently under running water to clean them.
Step 3
Lightly season the cleaned Black Tiger Shrimp with a pinch of salt and pepper. Be careful not to over-season.
Step 4
Lightly coat the surface of the shrimp with tempura flour. Apply it sparingly, as if just dusting them. If too much flour sticks, it can result in a thick batter, changing the texture. The goal is to lightly coat the shrimp’s surface.
Step 5
Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add 2 Tbsp butter, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 2-3 Tbsp olive oil. Sauté until the butter melts and the garlic becomes fragrant, infusing the oil with flavor.
Step 6
Place the seasoned and lightly floured shrimp into the fragrant garlic butter. Grill the shrimp over medium heat, flipping them occasionally, until they turn golden brown and become crispy on the outside. Be mindful not to overcook them, as they can become tough.
Step 7
While the shrimp are grilling, heat a little olive oil in a separate pan or on the side of the same pan. Add the thinly sliced onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and sweet.
Step 8
For a touch of spice, add the sliced bell pepper and finely chopped Korean chili pepper (if using) along with the onions, and sauté briefly. Bell peppers also add a beautiful vibrant color.
Step 9
Once the onions and vegetables are tender, add 6 Tbsp sweet chili sauce, 2 Tbsp ketchup, and 1 Tbsp maple syrup to the pan. Stir well to combine all ingredients, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the vegetables beautifully.
Step 10
Arrange the dish attractively on a serving plate. Start by placing the sautéed vegetables and sauce as a base, then artfully arrange the crispy garlic butter shrimp on top.
Step 11
Finally, squeeze the juice of 1/2 fresh lemon over the grilled shrimp. The citrusy zest cuts through the richness and enhances the overall flavor profile.
Step 12
Now, it’s time to enjoy this delicious meal! Serve onto individual plates, arranging the shrimp and vegetables attractively, and get ready to savor each bite.
Step 13
Here is your meticulously prepared ‘Crispy Garlic Butter Grilled Black Tiger Shrimp’! Enjoy the rich flavors and satisfying crispiness that fills your mouth. Happy cooking! ^^
