Main Ingredients
  • 80g firm tofu (1 pack)

Garlic Butter Sauce
  • 14g unsalted butter
  • 13g condensed milk
  • 13g minced garlic
  • 2 pinches garlic salt (to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Take out 1 pack (80g) of firm tofu. Gently press the tofu between your palms to remove excess moisture. Be careful not to press too hard, as it might crumble.

Step 2

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the moisture-removed tofu slices on the prepared sheet, ensuring they don’t overlap. Bake in the preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 14 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Step 3

While the tofu is baking, let’s prepare the garlic butter sauce. In a small bowl, combine the unsalted butter, condensed milk, minced garlic, and 2 pinches of garlic salt. Mix well. If your butter is hard, you can microwave it for about 7-10 seconds until softened, which makes mixing easier.

Step 4

This first baking stage is crucial for achieving the ultimate crispiness! The tofu must be baked until thoroughly crisp so that it maintains its crunch even after the garlic butter sauce is applied and baked again. It’s perfectly baked when you hear a satisfying ‘crunch!’ sound with each bite. If it’s still chewy or not crispy enough, bake it for a few more minutes.

Step 5

Once the first bake is successful, use a cooking brush to generously coat both sides of the baked tofu slices with the prepared garlic butter sauce. Be mindful not to apply too thick a layer of sauce, as this can make the chips soggy. Aim for a thin, even coating.

Step 6

Place the tofu slices, now coated with garlic butter sauce, back onto the baking sheet. Return them to the oven set at 200°C (400°F) and bake for an additional 2-4 minutes. I prefer to bake for 2 minutes, check their condition, and then add another minute if needed. Let them cool slightly before serving for maximum crispiness. They are incredibly delicious this way!
