Crispy Grilled Rice Balls with Teriyaki Sauce
Easy Teriyaki Glazed Rice Balls Recipe
Introducing an easy-to-make grilled rice ball recipe perfect for outings with friends. These rice balls are delightfully crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Main Ingredients- 2 bowls cooked rice
- 2 Tbsp furikake (rice seasoning)
- 1 Tbsp water
Sauce- 1 Tbsp teriyaki sauce
- 1 Tbsp teriyaki sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare two bowls of warm cooked rice. Divide the rice into two bowls and mix 2 tablespoons of different types of furikake (or seaweed flakes, sesame seeds, etc.) into each. Feel free to use other seasonings you have at home instead of furikake.
Step 2
Use a rice ball mold or, after washing your hands thoroughly, shape the rice into flattened balls by hand. Aim for a gentle shaping rather than packing it too tightly. Using a mold will create uniformly shaped, attractive rice balls.
Step 3
Place the shaped rice balls neatly in a heated pan. You can cook them without oil, but if you’re concerned about sticking, a very small amount of oil can be used.
Step 4
Prepare the teriyaki sauce. If the teriyaki sauce is too thick, add about 1 tablespoon of water to loosen its consistency. A thinner sauce will spread more easily on the rice balls.
Step 5
Using a brush, generously coat the top surface of each rice ball with the teriyaki sauce. Even coating will ensure a delicious flavor when grilled.
Step 6
Grill in a preheated oven or air fryer at 200°C (392°F) for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Adjust the time based on your oven’s specifications. They are ready when the outside is slightly crispy and the sauce has caramelized. Enjoy your meal!
