Main Ingredients
  • 200g warm cooked rice (about 1 bowl)
  • 1 cup toasted seaweed flakes (using a paper cup for measurement)
  • 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 200g of warm cooked rice. If you’re using leftover cold rice, warm it up slightly in the microwave – this will make it much easier to shape.

Step 2

Sprinkle 1 cup of toasted seaweed flakes (measured with a paper cup) over the rice. Seaweed flakes add great flavor, so don’t be shy with the amount!

Step 3

Add 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Lightly crushing the seeds beforehand can enhance their savory depth.

Step 4

Drizzle in 1 Tbsp of fragrant sesame oil. The rich aroma of sesame oil will whet your appetite.

Step 5

Finally, add 2 Tbsp of mayonnaise for a creamy texture and enhanced flavor. Mayonnaise also helps bind the ingredients together nicely.

Step 6

Using a spatula or your hands, mix and knead all the ingredients thoroughly until they are well combined with the rice grains. Knead until the mixture becomes slightly cohesive.

Step 7

Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Shape the rice mixture into small, flattened round balls. Place them in the pan and grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy on the outside. Be sure to adjust the heat to prevent burning!
