Main Ingredients
  • 5 frozen dumplings (store-bought)
  • 1 large egg

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, place the 5 frozen dumplings in a non-stick pan, ensuring they are not overlapping. This allows each dumpling to get evenly golden brown.

Step 2

Heat the pan over low heat. Pan-fry the dumplings for 1-2 minutes per side, until they start to develop a light golden color. It’s crucial to maintain low heat to prevent burning.

Step 3

Continue to flip and fry the dumplings on low heat, allowing the other side to also turn golden. At this stage, the filling will begin to cook through.

Step 4

Now, add 1 Tbsp of cooking oil to the side of the pan. Gently swirl the pan so the oil coats the bottom. Pan-fry the dumplings again, flipping them frequently, until they become extra crispy and develop a beautiful golden-brown hue.

Step 5

Immediately after adding 1 Tbsp of water, cover the pan with a lid. The steam created will help the dumpling filling cook thoroughly and become moist. Let it steam for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then, lift the lid and repeat the process on the other side, adding a little water and covering again.

Step 6

Add another 1 Tbsp of water, cover with the lid, and let it steam. Once done, remove the lid and flip the dumplings one last time. This step ensures the dumplings are perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Let them cool slightly.

Step 7

In a separate bowl, crack the egg. Remove the chalazae (the white, stringy bits) and whisk the egg thoroughly with a fork or whisk until smooth. This ensures a tender and even egg coating.

Step 8

Wipe the pan clean, add 1 Tbsp of cooking oil, and preheat over low heat. Dip each prepared pan-fried dumpling into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s well-coated, and then place it back into the pan. Pan-fry on both sides over low heat until the egg coating is golden and cooked through. Be mindful of the heat to prevent the egg from burning.

Step 9

Once all the dumplings are coated and fried, pour any remaining egg mixture into the pan to create a thin omelet. Cook this over low heat. Once set, turn off the heat, flip the omelet, and gently press it with a spatula to give it a neat shape.

Step 10

Allow the egg-coated dumplings and the separately cooked egg omelet to cool slightly. Then, thinly slice the egg omelet into strips. Arrange the egg strips attractively over the dumplings. Your delightful egg dumplings are now ready to be enjoyed hot!
